My Exposition Position
Once upon a time, in a kingdom far far away, a very bad man sought to rule the world. He began with his own kingdom of Russia, planning to eliminate anyone who might stand in his way of world domination.
Our villain, Joseph Stalin, was ruthless and immoral in his dealings. He befriended the likes of Adolf Hitler, another villainous ruler from a neighboring kingdom, and they made a pact to rule peaceably. True to form, as bad men often do, Hitler soon sent his men to pummel the kingdom of Joseph Stalin, breaking the pact and thrusting everyone into a no-holds-barred war.
This made Stalin mad, and he became even more despicable, sending millions of people to Siberia to live out the war in exile. Many of them died there.
A young princess, Lina, from the Kingdom of Lithuania, lived happily with her mother and father and young brother, Jonas. They were at first sight the perfect family. The father was a provost at the kingdom's large university, a highly prestigious position. However, men in such prestigious positions were known to have strong political views, and this was true of Lina's father. His political views were in opposition to the villainous Stalin, and this put the family on a list of criminals to be sent to Siberia.
One night while she lay sleeping, Lina's home was invaded by more bad men who worked for Joseph Stalin. They came with guns and shouted at Lina and her mother and brother to pack and come with them. These bad men were mean and scared Jonas.
Each of the family members quickly packed a large suitcase with the most important things they could find, and when finally forced from their home, they had a few items of clothing and their most important possessions. The rest of their lovely and treasured items had to be left behind. This made Lina very sad.
Thus began a very long journey for Lina and her family. There would be some tragedies and some triumphs. Unfortunately, not everyone would live happily ever after. But let me not get ahead of myself.
